Parks + Trails:

Parks & Trails

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently announced it awarded $3.4 million in grants to 21 local communities from the new Parks and Trails Legacy Grant Program.

The projects will help local governments acquire, develop, restore, and maintain parks and trails of regional or statewide significance across Minnesota. Funding for this program comes from the Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment approved by voters in 2008.

Andrew Slade:
I've heard a number of complaints about the Parks and Trails funding process. The Lessard OHC is getting way out there in public awareness and engagement, but parks/trails advocates are having a tough time knowing where to go to support or advise the process.
